3 Must Visit Gardens in Tokyo This Autumn

The best time to experience the beauty of Japan is by visiting Japan during autumn. The gardens, the park and even the streets would be painted with different autumn leaf colours. It lasts from mid November to early December, so you would want to constantly check the autumn colour reports to get the best timing to go to a location (because you would definitely not want to only see fallen leaves on the ground). I used this site to keep track of the autumn colour report and it was pretty accurate and it was updated daily too!

Here are my top 3 recommendations for gardens to go to during autumn!

#1 Rikugien Garden

Filled with ponds, manmade hills, walking trails and viewpoints, Rikugien is not your everyday garden. Not all gardens have such spectacular variety in their scenery. If you only have one day to spare for gardens in Tokyo, Rikugien is the one! You will be wow-ed by its beauty in autumn. During the nights of autumn, there will also be illuminations from 5pm onwards. To accommodate for the illuminations for the night, it will be ideal to visit the park around 3pm or 4pm and stay till you get a chance to see the illuminations!

#2 Shinjuku Gyeon

Spacious and easily accessible shouts for Shinjuku Gyeon. It is located near the heart of Tokyo which also explains the crowd that it gets. The garden is one of Tokyo's most popular park, but because it is spacious, for those of you who hates squeezing around the crowd at tourist spots, this is your garden. You'll tended to see tourists crowd around the entrance, but once you enter the garden, it would seem like you have the whole garden to yourself. Unlike Rikugien, this garden closes at 4.30pm during autumn so plan your day earlier!

#3 Imperial Palace East Gardens

The fastest escape from the bustling city is to enter the gardens of the Imperial Palace. Unlike the other two gardens mentioned, Imperial Palace East Garden is way less crowded. With zero noise pollution inside the garden, you can even listen to birds chirping. When I went, I had a strong urge to bring my laptop the next day to just sit down and do some work in the garden because it was so peaceful and quiet. For the fact that the garden might just be next to you when you are visiting the city, do keep it in mind so you won't miss it! This garden also closes at 4.30pm.

Although these gardens are very tempting to visit, it is really important to check out the autumn colour reports to choose the best timing to visit these places to get the best view!
