Arashiyama - The Beauty of Kyoto in Autumn
Located at the outskirts of Kyoto, Arashiyama (嵐山) has been a popular destination for tourists in Kyoto, I believe it's partly due to the infamous Arashiyama Bamboo forest. During fall, the colors of the place is amazing! Here, you can find a rough guide on how you should plan your trip at Arashiyama. I didn't get to do all of it but I'd like to share some of the amazing spots I went!
Watch my video here for a ride in Arashiyama!Definitely don't worry about getting around because you can just turn on your mobile data and follow Google Maps. Okay, again, don't fret of the amount of walking, to be honest, I thought that I was lost, because of how much walking was needed, so remember to wear comfy shoes!
When you walk towards the Bamboo Grove, you'll definitely pass by the Togetsukyo Bridge first. The view at this bridge looks like a modern village. With the colors of the trees, it spices up the whole place (watch the video instead to experience it)!
Keep walking, before you reach the bamboo grove, you'll see Tenryuji Temple first. You can read more about Tenryuji Temple here.
Further down, you'll reach the Bamboo Grove. When I went, it was actually the end of the season for Kyoto so you'll see that some of the leaves have already fallen off from the tree.
And then the Bamboo Grove. Yay!! 🎉
After the Bamboo Grove, you'll see this pretty stream. This way out is also the way to the train station.
Took me about 15-20 mins walk to reach the stations, but on the way back, it was dark already when we finally reach the bridge again (because sun sets earlier in autumn). Fortunately, the forest was lit up and it looks so different from the day!
Tip: It is really cold at the end of autumn so do layer up!
