Sesame Ginger Chicken Recipe (麻油鸡)
Sesame Ginger Chicken is one of the easiest and quickest meals to prepare. It
is a very common Chinese dish that can be found in almost all hawker centers. Cook your homely meal under 30 minutes!
INGREDIENTS
400grams chicken drumsticks (or chicken thighs)
1 tablespoon oil
1/2 chicken stock cube (for extra taste)
1 inch piece ginger, peeled and sliced into thin pieces
200ml of water
2 tablespoon sesame oil
1 stalk of spring onion, to sprinkle
5 shitake mushroom, halved and remove the stem
MARINADE
2 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoon dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3 dashes ground white pepper
1 teaspoon of salt (optional for extra taste)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Marinate chicken in soy sauce, pepper, sesame oil and salt (optional) for at least 30 minutes.

2. Once the chicken is set, heat up the wok with cooking oil and stir fry
the ginger until fragrant. Add the chicken and continue to stir fry for
another 5 minutes.
3. Add water, chicken stock and shitake mushroom into the wok and let it cook for 15
minutes.
4. Remove from the heat and serve right away with rice. Slice 1 spring
onion and sprinkle it on top of the dish.
