Top 5 Korean Dramas To Watch This May 2018

It has been a while since my last recommendation for Korean dramas. So instead of recommending the top 3 Korean dramas to watch this month, I'll be suggesting 5!

Rounding up what to watch this May!

#1 Suits

Genre: Legal

Synopsis: Park Hyung Shik got hired by Jang Dong Gun, a legendary lawyer at the top law firm. Park Hyung Shik has excellent memory but no work experience.

Why I like it: Unlike the typical legal K-dramas, the script and storyline of this drama are unique and fresh. It's intelligence vs intelligence. And not to forget, the two main casts are perfect!

This drama is based on the U.S drama series "Suits".  I actually watched only the first few episodes of the American version because I didn't want to spoil the story. The main storyline is pretty similar. So if you're looking for a little American in your Korean drama, this is it.

Recommended: Highly

#2 My Mister

top korean dramas to watch 2018

Genre: Family, Romance, Comedy

Synopsis: A story about three middle-aged brothers, who are enduring the weight of their lives, and a strong, cold woman, IU, who has been living a hard life of her own.

Why I like it: Remember those days when IU acted in Moon Lovers and everyone condemned her acting? Her acting is really good in this drama.

I thought I'll never like dramas mainly focusing on Ahjussi (Uncles) but this one fits the storyline perfectly. The story depicts the hardship of life and the script hits close to home.

There are about 10 minutes of comedy scenes in every episode. In general, the story is slightly on the darker side but the storyline is touching.

Recommended: Highly

#3 Switch: Change the World

Genre: Legal, Comedy

Synopsis: Jang Geun Suk is a swindler that makes criminals pay for crimes that prosecutors did not.

Why I like it: The plot twist for each episode and the little details that lead up to certain scenes are unpredictable. The 'set up' of each con makes me go 'Oh, I've never thought of that'.

Recommended: Moderate

#4 Black Knight

top korean dramas to watch 2018

Genre: Fantasy, Romance

Synopsis: A love triangle that spans over two hundred years. Seo Ji Hye, Shin Se Kyung, Kim Rae Won.

Why I like it: With the added fantasy genre in it, it's interesting to see how Seo Ji Hye fights for Kim Rae Won and the price she had to pay for forcefully going against her fate.

On top of that, the cinematography, scenery, and visuals of the drama are pretty good. I've been loving the outfits that appeared in the drama.

Recommended: Moderate (Gets a little draggy towards the end)

#5 Grand Prince

top korean dramas to watch 2018

Genre: Historical, Romance, Melodrama

Synopsis: A love triangle between two brothers and the woman they love. To have Jin Se Yun, Joo Sang Wook wants to become the King, even if he has to kill his younger brother.

Why I like it: Although it's the typical 'I want to be king' and 'I want your girl' kind of historical k-drama, having a little spice of historical drama from time to time is nice.

Honestly, I'm in it just for Yoon Shi Yoon. 😛

Recommended: Moderate

Again, my explanation of why I like the drama might be quite vague to some of you but I really don't want to spoil the show for you. So just trust me and check them out! This would keep you busy for a while.
