Shinjuku Gyoen in Autumn - Expect The Unexpected
Shinjuku Gyoen is one of Tokyo's most popular parks and one that you won't want to miss during autumn. And because the park is extremely spacious, it is a perfect gateway from the busy city. I'm always impressed by how Tokyo parks isolate the noise of the busy streets so well that it is always very peaceful inside the parks.
Entering the park, you are already greeted with magnificent autumn leaves. I'm pretty sure that you'll be tempted to snap a few pictures right at the entrance!
I went to Shinjuku Gyoen when it was past peak season for the autumn leaves there. Before heading over, I was quite concern that I might be only seeing fallen leaves on the ground. But to my surprise, at least half of the park was still breathtaking!
Walking more towards the center of the park, there was this large patch of field which was great to just sit and relax. I have never felt my time was well spent staring into thin air until I did so when I was sitting on the field. It felt so relaxing to the mind and body.
My trip down to Shinjuku Gyoen ended on a perfect note when the sun started to set and I got to capture this beautiful image when I was resting on the open field. If you're in Shinjuku, do pay this park a visit. I doubt you will regret it.
